http://www.stillsgallery.com.au/artists/parke/index.php?obj_id=series&nav=3 Parke's photographs are compositionally very interesting. His photographs are abstract and clearly well thought out. Some of his shoots consist of high contrast black and white photographs with an interesting use of light which I want to try and incorporate in my photographs. The objects in his photographs are placed carefully and you can clearly see that Parke has thought hard about composition. Some of his colour photographs are also interesting in that he has thought about the use of colour and tried to make the whole photograph be in the same colour. Parke's use of windows and doorways in some of his photographs suggest entrapment or escaping. Compositionally these windows and doorways are always in the center of the photograph which emphasises their importance in the picture. Parke also uses lots of horizontal and vertical lines.
Edward Burtynsky photographs interesting landscapes from very high above angles which displays the beauty and patterns in the landscape. The high viewpoint looking down on the landscapes makes the photographs look exciting and fierce. The landscapes look dramatic, powerful and sometimes overwhelming. His use of colour is quite interesting and also creates a dramatic effect.
New YorkIn 1929, Berenice Abbott documented New York City in her first major photography project. Many of Abbott’s most well known New York photographs were produced under the auspices of The Federal Art Project from 1935 to 1939. Her photographs are bold and striking as they are high contrast black and white. Abbott takes her photographs from interesting angles to accentuate certain objects and buildings making them look fierce and dramatic. Her use of vertical, horizontal, diagonal and sometimes curved lines in the photographs express a sense of power and strength. Abbott’s photographs certainly have a very Modernist feel. I am similarly going to take black and white photographs of buildings from high and low angles to create a dramatic picture. The American Scenehttp://www.commercegraphics.com/american.html
http://artplusphoto.com/lens_portfolio/gilbert-garcin/ Gilbert Garcin's work is surreal and absurd yet demonstrates a strong sense of composition. Most of his photographs consist of simple shapes but they are carefully thought out. Garcin uses lots of curved, horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines in his images. Garcin's viewpoint of the world is obviously quite different to how other people view the world.
